On April 16th Cold Specks opened for Sufjan Stevens in the beautiful Cleveland Masonic Temple. It was a sold out show and fans were already in their seats anxious to hear Cold Specks.

Her name is Ladan Hussein and she is a Somali-Canadian singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada who performs under the stage name Cold Specks. Her debut single "Holland" was released on October 17, 2011. She can also be heard on Moby's 2013 album, Innocents.

When I walked in the door on Thursday Cold Specks had just appeared on stage. I was instantly intrigued by her sound. Her voice is beautiful and filled the auditorium. She had a small band with her and they performed a few songs.

During her last song she stepped away from the microphone and continued to sing. No music, no band members and no microphone. You could hear her voice crystal clear and it was memorable. It was a unique sound and I don't think I've ever seen another vocalist do that so perfectly.

Before I knew it her set was over. She had left the stage within a half hour. Personally I would of liked to enjoy her music for a little longer. Hopefully I get the opportunity to see her perform again.
